Residence 3: Vienna

24–30 January 2016

After a series of preliminary workshops at the Gemäldegalerie Der Akadamie in November, D.ID Dance Identity host the third residency at Gemäldegalerie der Akademie der bildenden Künste, Vienna.

In the week leading up to the residency, dance artist, Dante Murillo and the film maker, Max Biskup, have been working with 25 members of the public preparing three formats on which the research will be based. Dance artists Lucy Suggate, Connor Schumacher, Tatiana Julien and Fabio Novembrini will join the Vienna Team taking up one of the formats, whilst developing reasearch processes started in Bassano del Grappa and in Rotterdam.

The reseach in Viennea is a reflection of the Heronimus Bosch painting, The Last Judgement, and will use the body and video projection as a means for finding new traces in the presence of old masters. The process is open to the public enabling visitors to identify with the body not only as a depiction, but also as a living art form.

EVENTS:

Thursday 28th January, 2pm–3.30pm, Public Lecture

As part of the residency Kirsten Maar, Department for Theatre Studies, Freie Universität Berlin, will give a public lecture on the theme what-a-body-can-do, The Body in Museums in the Italian Room at the Akadamie.

Friday 29th January, 2pm–5pm, Public Happening

The culmination of the research will be a public happening showing the results of the five dance artists work in the painting rooms of the Akadamie.
