Dancing Museums at Monumenta 2016

9 June 2016

Dancing Museums has been invited by RMN-Grand Palais to create a dance event for the performing programme of Monumenta 2016.

Choreographers Tatiana Julien, Fabio Novembrini, Connor Schumacher and Lucy Suggate together with musician Axel Rigaud and 40 amateur dancers will perform in the 13,500 m² of the Nef of the Grand Palais, in resonance with the art work “Empires” created by Chinese artist Huang Yong Ping.

Since 2007, internationally renowned contemporary artists have been filling the Nef of the Grand Palais with masterful works designed for the occasion. After Anselm Kiefer, Richard Serra, Christian Boltanski, Anish Kapoor, Daniel Buren and Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, Huang Yong Ping, the true founder of contemporary art in China, who now lives and works in France, takes up the challenge in 2016.
